Educators looking to enhance their support for multilingual students and create more engaging classroom environments will have two distinct Project GLAD® training opportunities this fall. Project GLAD® utilizes research-based teaching strategies designed to help multilingual learners develop language proficiency across various academic subjects. The upcoming sessions provide educators a chance to learn, practice, and observe these strategies in action.
One program, the Project GLAD® Secondary Foundations Training, is specifically tailored for middle and high school settings. This training offers separate sessions for both educators and Project GLAD® agency trainers. Educator sessions focus on two modules: Module 3, "Small Group Scaffolding," will take place on October 13-14, followed by Module 4, "Academic Discourse," on February 9-10, 2027. Both educator modules will be held in Orange County. The cost for each module is $800 per participant. For those serving as Project GLAD® agency trainers, extended versions of these modules are available, running from October 12-15 for Module 3 and February 8-11, 2027 for Module 4. These agency trainer sessions include additional instruction on teaching and coaching educators in implementing the strategies at their school sites. For a more immersive experience, educators can also attend the Project GLAD® Foundations Training, offered in partnership with Cal State Fullerton. This comprehensive six-day program begins with a two-day Research and Theory workshop on October 23-24, held at Cal State Fullerton. Participants will delve into the research underpinning the Project GLAD® approach, understanding how it informs the model's development, planning, and support structures.
The training continues with a four-day classroom demonstration from November 16-19. During this segment, participants will observe Project GLAD® Agency Trainers working directly with students, witnessing how the strategies effectively promote language development and engagement in a practical setting. Attendees will also have the opportunity to create classroom-ready charts and digital resources for immediate use. The full six-day Foundations Training costs $2,700 per person, with lunch included.
