The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Orange County rose for the 22nd consecutive day on Wednesday, increasing 1.3 cents to $5.904. This marks the highest average price recorded in the county since June 3.
Over the past 22 days, the average price in Orange County has increased by 32.9 cents. This includes a nine-tenths of a cent rise observed on Tuesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
Compared to previous periods, the current Orange County average price is 13.3 cents more than it was one week ago. It stands 30.2 cents higher than the average recorded one month prior and is $1.254 greater than the average price from one year ago.
The increase in prices has been notable since late February. The Orange County average price has risen $1.268 since February 28, which the data identifies as the start of a joint U.S./Israel war on Iran. This event reportedly sent oil prices higher and significantly accelerated increases at the gas pump.
Neighboring Los Angeles County also experienced a rise for the 22nd consecutive day. The average price in Los Angeles County increased 1.2 cents on Wednesday, reaching $5.924, its highest amount since June 6. Over the last 22 days, the average price in Los Angeles County has climbed 28.2 cents, including a six-tenths of a cent increase on Tuesday. The Los Angeles County average is 14 cents higher than one week ago, 26.2 cents higher than one month ago, and $1.248 greater than one year ago. Since the start of the joint U.S./Israel war on Iran on February 28, the average price in Los Angeles County has increased by $1.23.
Nationally, the average price of gasoline recorded a significant increase. The national average rose 7.3 cents to $4.224, marking its largest single-day increase since a 9.2-cent rise on May 1. The national average has increased nine times in the last 10 days, climbing a total of 14.6 cents, including a one-tenth of a cent increase on Tuesday. The national average price had increased for five consecutive days before dropping two-tenths of a cent on Saturday and resuming its upward trend on Sunday.
The national average price is 10.4 cents more than one week ago, 21.2 cents higher than one month ago, and $1.031 greater than one year ago. Since the attack on Iran, the national average price has increased $1.242. Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, which collects real-time gas price information, stated that the national average price is currently at its highest amount for this late in the calendar year.
