Irvine-based Skyworks Solutions Inc. (Nasdaq: SWKS) announced today the completion of its $22 billion combination with rival Qorvo Inc., forming an expanded U.S.-based semiconductor enterprise. This strategic consolidation aims to achieve at least $500 million in annual cost savings, according to Skyworks.
The newly structured company will maintain its identity, continuing to operate as Skyworks. It will also retain its presence on the Nasdaq under the SWKS ticker. The combined workforce of the integrated company now includes approximately 8,000 engineers. The company will also increase its presence in data centers and networking infrastructure, supporting the growing demand for digital connectivity and high-speed data processing. Furthermore, its reach will grow within the automotive sector, catering to advancements in vehicle technology, and into a broader range of other connected technologies that rely on advanced semiconductor solutions for their functionality.
Skyworks Chief Executive Phil Brace stated that the combination is intended to deliver more integrated, system-level solutions and to "accelerate the next generation of connected technologies." Brace will continue in his role as chief executive and president of the combined entity. The board of directors for Skyworks has also seen new additions; former Qorvo Chief Executive Bob Bruggeworth, alongside two other former Qorvo directors, have joined the board, integrating leadership from both previous companies.
Looking ahead, Skyworks is scheduled to release its fiscal fourth-quarter results on November 3. During this announcement, the company is also expected to provide updated financial guidance, offering further insight into its performance and future outlook following the combination.
