Iteris Inc., a company specializing in cloud-enabled systems for transportation infrastructure, is relocating its Santa Ana operations to two new facilities in Irvine. The company will establish an executive office at the Boardwalk office complex on Jamboree Road, while its manufacturing and product development unit will move to a 65,000-square-foot facility on Waterworks Way. The relocation is projected to conclude by early in the second half of 2027.

The executive office at the Boardwalk complex is designed to house approximately 30 people, including senior management and employees supporting various administrative functions. This site will serve as a coordination point for Iteris’ global teams. In addition to Iteris, the Boardwalk office complex will also host the North American headquarters for Almaviva, the Italian company that acquired Iteris in 2024. Iteris' corporate headquarters will remain in Austin, Texas.

Iteris currently has its largest concentration of employees in Santa Ana, with approximately 110 people based there. These operations, including industrial functions, product development, and the California-based consulting services team, will transition to the new 65,000-square-foot expansion facility on Waterworks Way. A company spokesperson said the move indicates Iteris’ ongoing commitment to Orange County and its expectations for future growth in the region. The combined investment in these two Irvine locations is intended to maintain Iteris’ significant presence in Orange County and provide capacity for future expansion.

Iteris’ work involves providing cloud-enabled systems that assist public transportation agencies, municipalities, commercial entities, and other transportation infrastructure providers. These systems help monitor, visualize, and optimize mobility infrastructure, aiming to enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability in transportation. The company employs advanced detection sensors, mobility and traffic data, and software-as-a-service offerings, alongside consulting services.

The Business Journal’s 2026 rankings identified Iteris as the ninth-largest telecommunications and wireless company in Orange County. The company has recently highlighted several applications of its technology. In September, its ClearGuide dash cam imagery was reported to be in use for tracking highways in North Carolina, through a partnership with Vizzion’s Drives. Iteris also stated in July that its Moova program, provided by parent company Almaviva, is being utilized by U.S. transit agencies to facilitate smooth movement of passengers and vehicles. Earlier in May, Iteris launched Vantage Node, which is an AI-powered intersection detection solution. This compact device is designed to provide high-performance detection of vehicles, pedestrians, and bicycles, particularly at smaller, less complex, or underserved intersections.

Iteris is not the only company in Orange County focused on traffic improvement systems. Other firms in Southern California that offer traffic flow and vehicle tracking systems include CalAmp, based in Carlsbad, and Advantage Automotive Analytics, which is also located in Irvine.

The relocation of Iteris' key operational units to Irvine represents a consolidation and expansion of its presence within Orange County, bringing its regional footprint into two distinct facilities tailored to its executive and operational needs.
